The Zetas warned that the barter system would be in place in many locales well before the pole shift.

ZetaTalk Prediction 12/15/2001: We predict that long before the shift, a barter system will be replacing the current paper money system. The value of the dollar, in all countries, will be falling, such that in any transaction one or both parties will feel they are getting a fair deal only if a thing, not a representation, is given or received. This is a common practice in countries where the dollar is falling, and a natural migration as the thought occurs readily to mankind, the barter system being recent in their cultural evolution. What will this mean for the common man, and what will it mean for the rich? The common man will find they are pleased with themselves if they have had the foresight to secure goods of value, such as seeds or tools or dried food. The value of appliances that are dead and not able to run, even of cars unable to run over broken roads, will be zero. The value of items that can increase worth, such as a needle and thread which can repair clothing otherwise worthless, or a shovel that can create a garden otherwise a weed patch, will balloon.

The rich will of course whine endlessly, and try to convince anyone who will listen that their goods will return in value, which it will not. Moneys will be used as a medium of exchange, as will jewels and art, in some settings, for a brief period of time. This will occur until those being offered these at bargain prices realize the shift has happened worldwide, and rescue and a return to civilization as they knew it will not occur. Perhaps months, but more likely weeks, and only in limited settings. We advise the common man, as we have in the past, to relieve themselves of stock and jewels and paper money that will fall in value, perhaps suddenly and without warning. Better to stock up on things that will have value, candles and matches, school books and a guitar, than what the rich treasure.

Suddenly, the barter system is in the news! Not only in Russia but in the US and other places around the world. Online websites supporting bartering are flourishing.

A maverick Russian businessman who blew his fortune on a failed presidential bid is convinced barter is back in vogue. German Sterligov says his scheme to trade products online, unveiled as Russia faces its first recession in a decade, has already grabbed the interest of Uzbek cotton merchants, St Petersburg car dealers and leading truck maker Kamaz. Russia's commodity-focused economy has been hit hard by the global economic crisis. The rouble has lost over a fifth of its value since November, and some heavy industrial producers claim to be owed hundreds of millions of dollars as debts go unpaid. That's where Sterligov, with his flowing beard and closely cropped hair, comes in. He says his Anti-Crisis Settlement and Accounting Centre (ASAC) is more advanced than the rudimentary barter trades so common in post-Soviet markets. Then, timber firms traded lumber for logging equipment and farm workers swapped meat for fuel. Sterligov founded Moscow's first commodity exchange in the 1990s and expanded into a range of businesses controlled by his Alisa holding company. Customers can search the database for products they require, and trade their own production in return.

High food prices and the credit crunch have forced some countries to revert to the ancient practice of bartering, a practice that is also seeing a revival in America correlated to the financial crisis. A recent article from the Financial Times reports countries from Malaysia to Morocco say they have reverted to the ancient practice of bartering for food, making deals to import commodities ranging from rice to olive oil. Signs of return to the barter system are already appearing in the U.S. Caught in the grip of the credit crisis, small business owners are resorting to the barter system as a way to keep their precious cash in reserve. Frozen capital markets mean little new money is finding its way to Main Street. Barter exchanges may be one of the few businesses to thrive in today`s environment. According to a recent New York Times article, barter exchanges range from publicly traded entities like International Monetary Systems and Itex Corporation to smaller companies like U-Exchange.com. Membership and transactions are growing at a rapid rate, with one exchange reporting a 70 percent increase in business since the beginning of the credit crisis.

 

In the past, bartering involved the simple exchange of goods between one person and another. Today multiple parties can meet through online exchanges and accumulate credits that can be used against future transactions. Participants from around the world can participate. Hundreds of exchanges are available online. Bartering in the U.S. is estimated to generate more than $3 billion in business, and this figure does not include direct bartering between corporations. Some of the barter exchanges even offer credit to members who have been turned away by traditional lenders. Websites like SwapThing.com offer swaps for $1. They have millions of items listed ranging from antiques and electronics to comic books. Sites like these make bartering seem like fun, something the kids might enjoy. Even on the individual to individual level bartering is on the increase. Watches, baseball cards, cupcakes and cookies, artwork, a journal entry, a bike and a dog were all accepted in a single day as barter for dentistry in Tupelo, Mississippi. In St. Louis, out of work contractors are eager to barter for basic goods and services that include legal counsel. A New York attorney has offered to prepare simple wills and healthcare proxies in exchange for getting his floors sanded and his house painted.

The Zetas advise that one’s skill set is a commodity that can be used during barter. To examine the usefulness of your skill set, imagine you are dropped alone in a junkyard, and must construct a home. Could you do it? Would you even know where to start? Or imagine trying to take up farming without the help of local farmers. Would you succeed?

ZetaTalk Prediction 12/15/2001: In that one's skill sets can be considered a bartering item, one should examine their own skill set by the following exam. If you were in the middle of a wilderness, alone, what steps would you take to survive? What is the first skill that you would need, and not have? Whom do you know that you would wish about you, in such as circumstance? What is that skill that they possess, that you perhaps could develop? Imagine a group in such a setting, having arrived at a land dump where various pieces of junk are about and could provide mechanical devices or shelter, if utilized creatively and resourcefully. How would you go about creating a comfortable home for yourself, and others, in such as situation? If you are clueless on how to use junk to structure a home, recycle and hook up, then perhaps you should work with a junk man, in his yard, and take lessons! What we are telling you is that you should mentally put yourself in this setting, and you will have no difficulty determining what is useless or most worthwhile, in a skill set. If you are an accountant, and cannot translate this skill into becoming a tailor or herdsman or cook, your skill is useless!

Frying and Freezing

The Zetas have predicted that the Earth wobble will increase, the push against the N Pole becoming more violent as we approach the time of the pole shift. Lately, it seems there are vertical bands where some parts of the globe are frying and others freezing. Is this due to the wobble? Per the Zetas, the answer is "yes".

Question: A few weeks ago there was a heatwave in California. While in other parts of the states it was too cold. Now in Australia there is a heatwave, while in the Northern hemisphere, the United states, it is too cold. About a week ago there was a storm affecting the southern part of France and Spain. To me it seems like there is a change in the wobble. Or are things still the same?

ZetaTalk Answer 1/31/2009: At present the N Pole is tilted too far away from the Sun due to the violent push away of the magnetic N Pole when it turns to face Planet X. This is countered, however, by a violent bounce back during the wobble, forcing some parts of the globe under more tropical air. The hot and cold regions are like bands, vertical bands, showing the wobble to be a jerking back and forth of the N Pole. Hot on the West Coast, cold in the Great Lakes and New England states. Cold in Europe and too warm in western/central Russia. We predicted the wobble would get worse, and it has, but the worst is yet to come!

We explained recently that the winter of 2007-2008 was excessively cold in the northern hemisphere because the N Pole of Earth was being pushed away by the N Pole of Planet X. This winter of 2008-2009 is likewise excessively cold in many parts of the northern hemisphere for the same reason, though the more violent wobble has interlaced parts of the northern hemisphere with record heat. Unfortunately for the southern hemisphere, which had record heat during the summer of 2007-2008, their heat spells will continue during their summer of 2008-2009, at least in certain locations. We explained that the northern hemisphere will experience more cold until the lean to the left into 3 days of darkness starts. This unfortunately means that portions of the southern hemisphere will continue to experience their record heat also until that time arrives.

Indeed, Australia is scorching, with record heat.

Southern Australia suffered Friday from a record-breaking heat wave that has threatened rural towns with wildfires and sent ambulance crews after heat-stressed patients. Melbourne, Australia's second-largest city recorded its third consecutive day of temperatures above 43 degrees Celsius (109 F) for the first time since 1855, when record-keeping began. The temperature in Melbourne topped 45.1 C (113 F) ahead of a cooler change that might even bring some thunder showers. Adelaide, the other major city on the south coast, is expected to match its longest heat wave in a century, with six consecutive days exceeding 40 C (104 F). The heat there buckled train and tram lines.

Meanwhile in the US, southern California was experiencing record heat while the northeast was experiencing record cold.

On Friday, the temperature climbed to 80 degrees once again on Friday, making it the twelfth day of the month reaching 80 degrees or higher. This ties January 2003 as having the greatest number of such days on record.

Extreme heat kills with heat stroke for those unable to stay cool, and extreme cold takes its victims too. Depending upon what vertical band you reside in - frying or freezing is likely to be part of your future until the lean to the left into the 3 days of darkness begins.

Tommy Lopp, 53, lost his truck driving job in October and had been living in his pickup until frigid weather forced him into one of Detroit's suddenly overcrowded shelters for the homeless. Metro Detroiters struggled to maintain a sense of normalcy Wednesday as the region fought arctic chill. Work crews battled failing equipment. Thousands found themselves with dead car batteries. School administrators will keep their eyes on the thermometer. Traditionally, schools don't shut down for cold temps alone until they reach a real feel of around 30 below. But a wind chill expected to plunge as low as minus 20 degrees in some areas prompted officials to cancel classes today. The bitter cold was particularly brutal on the homeless and poor. A day earlier, a Wisconsin man died of exposure after wandering from his home; relatives said he was prone to sleepwalking. Northern Georgia and Kentucky could see single-digit lows by Friday, with zero possible at Lexington, Ky., the weather service said. Kentucky hasn't been that cold since December 2004.

A 51-year-old sleepwalker died from exposure in the subzero cold gripping northern Wisconsin after he wandered from his home. The son said the man was prone to sleepwalking, and deputies followed bare foot tracks in the snow to find him. The Arctic cold with wind chills reaching 55 below zero have occurred in parts of extreme northern Wisconsin. It won't be much better in southern Wisconsin. Forecasters said the daytime high in Milwaukee may be minus 3 with wind chills to minus 39 before warmer air moves in Saturday. Flesh can freeze in 10 minutes when the wind chill is 40 degrees below zero or colder, the weather service warned.

Somalia Adrift

We detailed in the November 23, 2008 Newsletter how pirates based in Somalia were capturing merchant ships and demanding and getting ransom. Since that time many countries have sent warships to protect their merchant ships, but the pirating continues. Last September, the pirates captured a ship carrying weapons.

A merchant ship carrying tanks and weapons held by pirates off the coast of Somalia since September has been freed, Ukraine's president announced. A spokesman for the owners of the MV Faina said on Wednesday that a ransom was paid on to the pirates. The brief statement from the office of President Viktor Yushchenko did not refer to a ransom, but said the ship was freed as the result of an operation involving special-services agents from Ukraine. The Faina is loaded with military hardware and there had been fears the arms would fall into the hands of al-Qaida-backed Somali insurgents. Mikhail Voitenko, a spokesman for the ship's owner, said the pirates had received a ransom on Wednesday. He did not say how much was paid, but ITAR-Tass news agency put it at $3.2 million. The pirates originally demanded $20 million. The MV Faina carrying a cargo of tanks, other weaponry and about 20 mostly Ukrainian crew members was seized by bandits in September off the Somali coast. Ships of the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet surrounded it to be sure the cargo did not get into the hands of Somali insurgent groups linked to al-Qaida. Somalia does not have a coast guard or navy because it has not had a functioning government since warlords overthrew dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991. They then turned on each other, reducing Somalia to anarchy and chaos.

The last sentence says it all - "anarchy and chaos". Somalia is a country out of control. The pirates are based there because Somalia is powerless to police them. Is this a trend we will see in the future, particularly after the pole shift? Per the Zetas, there are certain countries which will be dominated by Mad Max behavior, warring gangs, which will eventually decimate each other, but in the meantime chaos reigns. Which countries or cities might those be?

ZetaTalk Somalia: The Horn of Africa, Somali, is war-lord prone, given to the battle craze for many long years and will not give this stance up going into times of hardship. They will become mercenaries, on the rove. This will force their neighbors in Ethiopia and Kenya to defend themselves, and not in a polite manner. The outcome of these types of battles, in normal times, depends upon how well supplied an army is, but in lean times migrating mercenaries do not fare well. They are used to living on looting, what they can commandeer with guns and by being ruthless brutes, their reputation pressing all who hear them coming to lay out the goods before confrontations emerge. But in lean times, where death is the outcome for those about to be looted, something else emerges - resistance. Communities and their livestock disappear, and the marauders find little to feed themselves and fall to infighting among themselves. Thus weakened, they are picked at from the bushes along roadsides, until the remnants falter and fall. Such a process may take years, even decades, but the outcome is certain.

ZetaTalk Arabia: The oil reserves, considered the life blood of the Saudi people, will not come to their rescue as all pumps and refineries will be broken and explode into flames. What can be salvaged eventually will be used by the strong, those with power and control of food supplies to demand cooperation. This is a finite situation, going downhill, leading to a king of the hill scenario which only leads to violent death for all involved.

ZetaTalk Columbia: The drug wars, which often dominate the scene in Colombia, will become nonexistent, as the traffic cannot move. Colombia's drug crop will be used, rather, to dull the horrific reality among those who seek this route. Columbia will continue to be a country where guns rule, to some extent, for some time after the shift.

ZetaTalk Croatia: The endless aggression from would-be dictators that afflict the region will make this any but a war zone, this time over any supplies or food that a survivor might possess.

ZetaTalk Serbia: The history of brutality and violence against one's neighbor that has been in place for centuries in these locales makes a picture that is not pretty.

ZetaTalk Sudan: Those to the south will find their numbers increasing due to migration from Europe and Arab lands, pressing survival there on all fronts. This will erupt into territorial battles, travelers killed on the pathways and neighbors raiding each other. Not a pleasant outcome.

ZetaTalk Indiana: Indiana has the added burden of the US plans for a carry-on government to be located near Kokomo, which will not welcome the taxpayers straggling up from Indianapolis, looking for food or assistance or shelter. Guns will be turned on those who paid for the burrows at Kokomo, and any who refuse to be turned away amicably gunned down without conscience.

ZetaTalk Denver: Denver is a spot where the rich and powerful will flock when the cataclysms approach. They will consider Denver, and Colorado, their safe place to camp, but being in the main the type of individual to expect service and attendance, they will not be the best neighbors in the Aftertime. Colorado, and especially Denver, will be a study in sociological tides during the days preceding the pole shift and the months following. Vicious pecking order battles will ensue among those already assuming they are in control, followed by vicious battles among those wanting to effect a takeover when it is clear that government has collapsed and there will be no repercussions. This will ebb and flow, flaring up and then smoldering under the surface, until these groups have either killed each other off or died from lack of attention to the important aspects of life in the Aftertime.
